London’s Newest Park

A two-year planting programme created the UK’s largest new urban park for more than a century. 100 hectares of the 2012 Olympic Park is being transformed into the new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The north section will open on 27 July 2013, exactly a year after the start of the 2012 Olympic Games, and the south part of the park in spring 2014. Thousands of semi-mature trees, wetland plants, nectar-rich annual and perennial meadows and bulbs were planted.
