Eltham Palace

Finest Art Deco in London

The manor of Eltham was recorded in the C11 Domesday survey. The moated manor house grew into a fine royal Palace with a magnificent hammerbeam-roofed Great Hall, still used for weddings and special functions today. This is where King Henry VIII spent his childhood.

In 1933 the palace was bought by Stephen and Virginia Courtauld, who restored the Great Hall and built their adjoining Art Deco home. Recently restored, this is one of the finest examples of Art Deco in London.
