This charming corner of London, bordering on the City, takes its name from the Clerk’s Well. Once home to “revolting Peasants”, monks and nuns, cattle drovers and revoltionaries, Clerkenwell became home first to watchmakers and now to some of the best designers in the capital. “Four Weddings and a Funeral” was filmed in its Norman church, Charterhouse school was founded here and the Revels Office licensed Shakespeare’s plays. Coffee houses and restaurants still abound.
